Over the past few weeks, I've set up a winter feeding station to attract winter finch flocks to the area. In the last week bird numbers have significantly build up with over 100+ Chaffinch, 50+ Goldfinch, 18 Siskin, 7 Bullfinch and plenty of Blue Tit, Great Tit, Coal Tit and Long-tailed Tit frequenting on a daily basis. Single figures of Brambling, Greenfinch, Great spotted Woodpecker, Nuthatch, Jay, Sparrowhawk, Marsh Tit all present over the last week.
Small groups of Brambling have been seen flying over & on the feeders with the big Chaffinch flock in recent days. Max count of 4 birds ( 2 adult males, 1 female & 1st year male) on 8th Nov. Flyover of 3 birds on 11th so fingers crossed more will turn up in the coming weeks.
12th Nov: 1 Water Rail present on 2nd lake mid afternoon, 2 Kingfisher, flyover of Cormorant, 2 Chiffchaff "Very pale Siberian types by willows, bottom lake", 65+ Goldfinch, 4 Bullfinch and 1 Green Woodpecker only noteworthy species seen.
