European Bee-eater: Large flocks migrating over the Island

Blue Rock Thrush: Several seen along the rocky shore of the island & several in Pompeii
Cattle Egret. One of hundreds seen on mainland Italy



Garden Warbler. One of the most commonest migrants present on the Island

Many Garden Warbler present feeding in orchards on figs & other exotic fruits. Some trees holding 100's of warblers!!


Male Golden Oriole: A usually very elusive & shy species to see. Some days we would see flocks arriving 50+ strong. Stunning Birds
Female Orioles much more difficult to pick out against the green foilage

Hoopoe: A common spring migrant on the Island

Icterine Warbler: The most commonest warbler species present. A personal highlight of the trip seeing vast numbers 1000's some days.

Common Kestrel

Pallid Swift migrating over with Alpine Swifts and Red-rumped Swallows

Pied Flycatcher: Another common migrant on the island during spring falls

Sardinian Warbler

Spotted Flycatcher: Probably the 3rd most commonest migrant on the island. 100's trapped and ringed daily during our ringing studies on the island
