COLLARED PRATINCOLE TWITCH

Fantastic afternoon outing to see the Collared Pratincole at Ham Wall RSPB reserve. Upon arrival at approx 17.00, the Pratincole was preforming well from the 2nd viewing platform, giving amazing aerobatic flight views as it hawked dragonflies over the reed bed in front of everyone present.
A truly stunning bird, a British lifer tick for me & Hannah!! The Pratincole showed well for most of the evening, though became elusive when it settled on the vegetated islands. Birding highlight of the year now!!! A few heavily cropped images below.

Other highlight of the day included cracking flight view (though very brief) of two male Little Bittern also on the reserve. Apart from the rarities present, 2 Bittern, 5 Great White Egret, 3 Hobby, 1 juv Cuckoo and 2 Kingfisher were also great sightings for the day.
